"Pelada": The "Endless Summer" of soccer movies has arrived on the big screen. And Goals Soccer Centers’ President Les Allan is the Executive Producer. "Pelada" is a documentary that tells the story of two players who had finished their college careers but weren’t quite ready to quit the sport. So they teamed up with two filmmakers and toured the world playing in pick-up games. In all, they went to 25 different countries, playing games in streets, alleys and parks in places as diverse as Gaza, a slum in Nairobi, Kenya, a prison in Bolivia, and on the beaches in Brazil. Allan personally provided financing for much of the filming. He read about the film in the Orange County Register when it was still in its planning stages, contacted the filmmakers and offered to help. The film received its world premiere at the prestigious South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin, TX, earlier this year, and has received enthusiastic reviews in Variety and The New York Times.
