Soccer in the US

Soccer is the most active participant sport in the United States. According to FIFA, the world governing body of soccer, the US has more official soccer players than any other country in the world – around 18 million.

California has the highest total numbers of players in the United States. Like most cities in the developed world, Los Angeles and others in the United States can have limited recreational space which results in a constant demand for playing time and space.
